15th-Century Zweihänder Found in Poland

A metal detectorist from Poland’s Bishop’s Detectory Association found a 3.2-foot Zweihänder sword near an Osa River bank.

The intact 14th–15th-century weapon, with hilt, pommel, and guard, was among discarded axe heads and tools.

Archaeologist Lukasz Szczpanski suggests it was lost near a former bridge or settlement.

The find, now with the Ostroda Museum, highlights medieval weapon deposits.
