DeepMind Robots Showcase Soccer Skills
AI-trained robots play soccer, mastering agile moves and tactics.

Google DeepMind researchers trained Robotis OP3 humanoid robots to play one-on-one soccer using deep reinforcement learning.
The robots learned to walk, kick, turn, and recover from falls, with movements 181% faster walking, 302% faster turning, and 63% quicker recovery than scripted baselines.
Trained in a MuJoCo simulation, they adapted to anticipate ball movements and block shots, as detailed in a 2024 Science Robotics paper.
