Summerville Light Linked to Earthquake Activity
Eerie Summerville Light may be caused by seismic activity, not ghosts.

In Summerville, South Carolina, the Summerville Light, a glowing orb seen along old railroad tracks, is tied to a ghost story about a woman searching for her husband’s head.
Seismologist Susan Hough suggests it’s caused by shallow earthquakes releasing gases like radon or methane, ignited by static from steel tracks.
Her 2023 study found a fault line kink from the 1886 Charleston earthquake, magnitude 7.3, which killed 60 people.
These lights and car shaking align with minor seismic events.
